Phyllis Daley, 89, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 15, 2026.
She was a woman of Apostolic faith & was deeply involved in her church community. Phyllis never met a stranger. She was affectionately called “Grandma” by all who met her.
Phyllis is survived by her children, son, David Dailey, son, Brett Dailey, daughter, Beth (Mark)Holmes and daughter, Dana (Kent) McReynolds, all of Paducah. She is also survived by her sisters Pamela Piper of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Nancy Atchison of Evansville, Indiana; her brother Steve Piper of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and sister-in-law Geri Sue Piper of Franklin, Indiana. Her family includes 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dailey; her parents, Elinor and Lewis Piper; her brother Robert Piper; and her daughter-in-law, Kitty Dailey.
Phyllis was born and raised on a dairy farm in Taylorville, Illinois. She attended high school in Sumner, Illinois, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Larry. She earned a nursing degree from Vincennes University, followed by a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Evansville University. Over the course of approximately 60 years in nursing, Phyllis held a variety of positions and dedicated much of her life to caring for others before retiring at age 81.
Funeral services will be at 12:00pm on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev Joel Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am to service hour on Thursday at the funeral home.
Family was Phyllis’s greatest joy. She loved traveling with family and friends and treasured the time spent creating memories with those closest to her.
