Royanne Latimer Freeman, born October 24, 1934, in Saline County, Missouri, was the daughter of Robert R. Latimer and Estil Aileen Latimer. Elegant, gracious, and deeply devoted to those she loved, she lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and service to others.
Royanne was a graduate of Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee, and earned her teaching certificate in Tennessee in 1956. She dedicated her career to education and retired from the Paducah Public Schools in 1995. As a first-generation college graduate and recipient of a master’s degree, she valued education and the opportunities it created.
She had a lifelong appreciation for exercise and staying active, embracing a healthy and vibrant way of life. She also loved international travel, welcoming every opportunity to experience new cultures, places, and perspectives. Royanne was dedicated to charity and community service, always seeking meaningful ways to give back and make a difference in the lives of others. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years.
Above all, Royanne was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her two children, Lisa Freeman McClintock and Mark Freeman (Shea); her sister, Jane Lars; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Latimer; and her son-in-law, Johnny McClintock.
Royanne will be remembered for her warmth, grace, generosity, and unwavering love for her family, church, and community. Her legacy of faith, service, education, and love will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
She will be cremated according to her wishes, and no services are scheduled at this time. Lindsey Funeral Home of Paducah is managing the arrangements.
