Wesley S. Blackwood, a beacon of light whose melodies and kindness resonated with all who knew him, passed away on May 17, 2026, at the age of 50, in the warm embrace of his family, following a courageous four-month battle with a devastating illness. He was born on October 17, 1975, in Lexington, Tennessee.
On January 31, 1998, Wesley married his soulmate, Charlie Williamson. Their partnership spanned an inspiring 30 years, during which they built a beautiful family together. He loved to brag about his kids, who were his greatest joy.
Wesley is survived by his adoring wife Charlie, his sons Arlo and Donovan of Paducah, and his daughter Iris of Lexington, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tracye Watkins, and mother-in-law Vickie Williamson.
A man of immense talent, Wesley's life was a symphony of music and creativity. As a gifted musician and songwriter, he was a pillar of the community, earning admiration and respect from fellow musicians and fans alike.
Wesley's gentle nature and kind heart were as much a part of his identity as his music. Rarely seen without a guitar in hand, he was always ready to share his gift with anyone willing to listen, embodying a spirit of generosity that knew no bounds. Those who knew Wes remember him as a person who would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, a testament to the depth of his compassion and selflessness.
This old world was lucky to have Wes, even though his time here was tragically too short. There will never be another one like him. We celebrate the life of a remarkable man whose legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched.
