Woodrow "Woody" Fiser

Woody Fiser, 84 of Ledbetter passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Mercy Health in Paducah. Woody was born on November 16, 1941 where he graduated from Reidland High School. He was a Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War on the USS Tolovana oiler ship providing petroleum in the open waters off the South China Sea supporting the aircraft carriers and other vessels for war operations. He was a proud union member working out of the Heat and Frost Insulator’s Local 37. He was a hard worker where he took pride in his craft. Woody had many hobbies, he loved going fishing, spent a lot of time arrowhead hunting along the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers, he spent many weekends playing golf where he was a member of Drake Creek in Ledbetter and was part of the Brew Crew. He loved to watch dirt track racing and UK Basketball. He was artistic and could carve any kind of walking stick and had made quite of a collection. Woody was a character and was always the life of a party, he loved to dance and could sure burn up a dance floor, and was a true rock star. He is survived by two children, Suzanne (Derek) Sanderson of Calvert City and David (Angie) Fiser of Ledbetter. He has two grandchildren Jacob (Brooke) Sanderson of Paducah, Sarah Sanderson (Dalton Brumfield) of Calvert City, two step grandchildren Will Blackburn and Ben Large, he has two great-grandchildren Cayson and Addyson Sanderson of Paducah, one brother John Fiser of Paducah and a sister Gwendolyn Fiser of Mayfield. He is proceeded in death of his beloved wife of 62 years Janet Fiser and both of his parents Woodrow W and Barbara Nell Fiser. He left this earth a true fighter and gave it his all to battle his illness, he will be truly missed. Woody is being cremated with a private service at a later date and will be buried with his wife.
