She had a deep appreciation for nature, with a special fondness for hummingbirds, backyard birds, and dogs. Angela graduated from St. Mary Academy in 1956 and went on to graduate summa cum laude from Nazareth College in Bardstown, Kentucky, earning degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She worked as a medical technologist (ASCP) for the offices of Drs. Bohle, Franks, Clark, and Hayden, and later for Drs. Figge and Bryant.
Angela is survived by her children, Philip Austin Smith of Owensboro and Jaimie Kathryn Smith of Paducah; her grandson, Steven Smith of Owensboro; sisters, Katherine Goetz of Lexington and Barbara Good of Silver Spring, Maryland; several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
She also leaves behind her beloved rescue Yorkie, Buddy.
Angela was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Smith; her siblings, Frances Walter, Sara Nell Hayden, Lucy Schultzman, Cecile Thomas, and David Schultzman; and one niece, Lynnelle Hayden.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted home sitters, Payton Smith, Judy Graham, and Robyn Luther, for the compassionate care they provided.
