Anna Evelyn Mitchell Terry, 89, of Mayfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Anna had a talent for sewing and she worked at many sewing factories in this area over the years. After retiring, she opened an alteration shop in her home and often worked wonders with garments-altering everything from wedding dresses and leather jackets to men’s pants, and whatever else her customers needed. She made a lot of quilts over the years and gave most of them away to family.
Anna cherished her family. Many of her siblings still live in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, where she was born and raised. She visited them as often as she could. Her face would light up when she saw her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always loved to give them a big hug. To Anna, family wasn’t just important-it was everything. It was the foundation, the purpose, and the joy of her days.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Terry; her daughter, Janice Hays of Cunningham, Kentucky; her son, Ray Hutchinson of Bardwell, Kentucky; her stepdaughters, Rhonda (Russell) Turnbow and Beverly Collins, both of Cunningham; her stepsons, Steven (Gina) Terry of Cunningham and Randall (Donna) Terry of Bardwell; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Wilma Wicker of Hanson, Kentucky, Pansy Evans of Poole, Kentucky, Norma Norton of Paducah, Kentucky, Shirley (Charles) Perry of Dunmor, Kentucky, Gail (Eddie) Agent of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; her brothers, Robert Mitchell of Easley, South Carolina, Harold (Carol) Mitchell and Carol Lee (Betty) Mitchell, all of Greenville, Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, two sons-in-law, and one great grandchild. Her parents were Hershel and Fannie Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral of Paducah with Bro. Rick Miller officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the funeral home.
