Barbara Solomon, known for her willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need, passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on December 17, 1940, in Heath, Kentucky, Barbara's charm and wit brightened the lives of all who knew her.
After a fulfilling career as a hairdresser in Louisville, Kentucky, Barbara's retirement years were marked by the care she provided to her family, neighbors, and friends. She crafted the warm, loving house where people congregated for her good cooking, especially her famous cornbread. Her involvement at Southland Baptist Temple allowed her to form life-long friendships. She served her community with unwavering dedication as evident through her years of service at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Possum Trot.
Barbara's passions were as vibrant as her personality. Fishing trips brought her immense joy, as did the pleasure of savoring catfish, her favorite meal. At home, Barbara's sassy yet loving nature was adored by her favorite cat Ed, who was a constant companion.
Her generosity and readiness to help others will be profoundly missed, but the warmth of her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
Barbara is survived by her close friend Wayne Brooks; one sister, Nancy Moyers; one nephew, Bobby Moyers, Jr.; and one niece, Melinda Severns, all of Paducah. Her close friend Traci Goss, Darrin Goss, and their son, Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Solomon; her father, John Williams Crotzer; and her mother, Beulah Frances Boldry Crotzer.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the Palestine Cemetery in West Paducah.
