Camillah A. Burnett, 81, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

Born April 14, 1944, in Montgomery, Alabama, Camillah was the daughter of Reverend Hoyt Ayers and Vernie Ayers.

Camillah was raised with a strong foundation in faith, learning, and service to others. She graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School and continued her education at Paducah Junior College and Murray State University. She devoted her professional life to education, working in both the Paducah City and McCracken County School Systems, as well as with the Kentucky Department of Education as a Distinguished Educator. Camillah had a passion for teaching gifted and talented students and retired in 1996 after a meaningful and impactful career. She was also the owner of her own business, Out of the Box, Inc.

On March 11, 1978, she married the love of her life, George Lee “G.L.” Burnett, and together they recently celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Camillah had a vibrant spirit and a deep love for life. She enjoyed traveling on motorcycles, reading, and gardening. A devoted member of Concord United Methodist Church, she faithfully taught the Crosstalk Sunday School class. She was known for her spiritual gift of caring for others and her lifelong love of learning, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Lee “G.L.” Burnett; children Kenneth Burnett (Kay), Lisa Barnes (Roger), Shannon Lokey (Phil), Ritchie Burnett (Tabitha), Shayna Lawrence (Ben), and Apryl Chumbler; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Ayers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Hoyt and Vernie Ayers, and her sister, Phyllis Miller.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Grandson Ross Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Come wearing your Easter best (colorful clothes), not to mourn her death, but to celebrate her resurrection to new life.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
