It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Elizabeth Guill, age 78, of Paducah, KY, who passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion to her family.
Carol was born in South Fulton, TN, and spent much of her life serving others through her hard work and generous heart. She was a faithful and dedicated employee of Kmart for almost four decades, where she gave many years of her life to her work and the people she encountered along the way.
Carol was a devoted member of Southland Baptist Temple and a strong Christian woman whose faith was at the center of her life. She loved her God, her Bible, and her faith deeply. Her kindness knew no boundaries, and she never hesitated to help a stranger or anyone she saw in need.
One of Carol's greatest loves was animals. She had a special heart for the helpless and forgotten, and any stray animal that crossed her path could count on Carol to be fed, cared for, and loved. She also had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley, a passion that brought her much joy throughout her life. Carol will be remembered most for her enormous heart, her fierce independence, her strength, her faith, and the love she gave so freely to those around her. She had a way of making people feel cared for, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary “Liz” Dossett-Simmons; her father, William Hale Ward; her brother, William Neal Ward; her grandson, William Nicholas Guill; and her grandson, Forrest Baird. Carol leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, William Lee and Tera Guill of New Castle, DE, and Jeffery Dean and Chandra Guill of Paducah, KY; her granddaughters, Lauren Guill-Avery of Louisville, KY, and Jordan Elizabeth Guill of Paducah, KY; her grandsons, Matthew Morgan Paducah KY, Allan Baird of Paducah, KY, and her four great-grandchildren, Westin Avery of Paducah, KY, William Mason Avery and Elizabeth Jewell Avery of Louisville, KY; and Elliott Dunevant of Joppa, IL. She also leaves behind her lifelong best friend, Sandy Young of Paducah, KY, who shared countless memories, laughter, and years of friendship with Carol.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing that Carol's faith was strong. She loved her Lord and trusted in Him throughout her life. We do not have to wonder where she is today. She is home. Her earthly life may have come to an end, but the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will live on forever.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Rev. Clay Hall officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
