Carol Jean Wiersma Fields, age 74, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on October 28, 2026, at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital. She was born on September 16, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to James and Martha Wiersma.
Carol was a woman of remarkable strength and steady purpose. Family was her life, and she was the glue that held everyone together. She gave of herself freely and consistently, always making sure that those she loved were cared for, supported, and encouraged. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, and she took great pride in hosting everyone for holidays and birthdays. When her children were younger, Carol worked part-time so she could stay home with them and be present for every need, every schedule, and every important moment in their lives. As her children grew older, she worked hard for many years as a human resource manager in the banking industry.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering in any way that she could. Carol found joy in serving others and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Her faith and her generous spirit were evident in the way she lived each day, and she touched many lives through her kindness and willingness to serve.
Carol also had a creative and practical side that made her a joy to know. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting, and she took satisfaction in working with her hands and creating something beautiful and useful. She loved a good challenge, whether it was mechanical, electrical, or nursing, and no matter the task, she was determined to figure it out. Her determination, resourcefulness, and perseverance were among her most admired qualities.
Above all else, Carol’s greatest joy came from being Mimi to her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them and embraced her role with love, pride, and delight. Her grandchildren brought her immense happiness, and she treasured the special bond she shared with each of them. Her love for her family was unwavering, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Reggie Fields; one son, Eric D. Fields (Mandy) of Kuttawa; three daughters, Monica L. Fields of Paducah, Stacey L. Noland (Nick) of Paducah, Renae J.
