Charles Edward Glisson, affectionately known as Charlie to his friends and loved ones, passed away on December 1, 2025, after a life well lived for 74 years. Born on March 8, 1951, Charlie grew into a man admired for his indomitable spirit, resilient character, and his endless capacity to assist and protect those around him.

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army, a chapter in his life that deeply informed his values and work ethic. After his military tenure, he brought these traits to his career as an administrator at the TVA fossil plant, where he dedicated many years before taking a well-earned retirement. Charlie's commitment to service extended beyond his professional sphere, as evidenced by his impressive 14-year tenure as Assistant Chief with the Paducah McCracken County Auxiliary Police. His dedication to community safety and well-being continued when he accepted the role of Special Deputy with the McCracken County Sheriff Department, where he remained a highly respected figure.

Those acquainted with Charlie knew him as a straight shooter with a heart of gold. He had the uncanny ability to express himself candidly while still preserving the warmth of his nature. Never shy to engage in conversation, Charlie was invariably the source of wisdom delivered with wit and a touch of humor.

Charlie's leisure time was filled with the simple pleasures in life, where he most notably found a passion on the greens. Golfing wasn’t just a pastime; it was the challenge of the sport and the companionship of fellow enthusiasts. His love for games extended to the lanes and fields too-bowling, playing, and umpiring softball, along with refereeing basketball games. Through sports, he connected with many, fostering camaraderie and forming enduring bonds over shared interests and spirited competition.

Charlie’s steadfast presence will be deeply missed, not only by his comrades in various organizations but by countless others whose lives were brightened by his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering sense of duty. The imprint of his integrity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the honor to know him.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 8 years, Donna Tapp Glisson; one daughter, Monica Adams of Paducah; one son, Manuel Glisson (Brooklyne) of Eddyville; two step-daughters, Missie Walker of Boaz, Melodie Carrico (Richie) of Paducah; two sisters, Bettie Matheny (Harry) of West Paducah, Patricia Greenup (Joe) of Ledbetter; one brother, Roy Glisson, Sr. (Polly) of West Paducah; 10 grandchildren, MacKenzie O’Connell (Payton), Blake Smith, Gavin Smith (Taylor), Talon Watson, Joseph Bergman, Austin Draffen, Jacey Carter (Ward), Peyton Walker, Daniel Carrico (Shamber), Michael Carrico (Kortney); 6 great-grandchildren, Lilah O’Connell, Kase O’Connell, Kolson O’Connell, Kallum O’Connell, Logan Carrico, Lucas Carrico, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
