Charles Eugene Starnes, Sr.

Charles Eugene Starnes, Sr., a man of unwavering faith and boundless love for his family, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 95 in Paducah, Kentucky.
 
Born in McComb, Mississippi to Claude and Eddis Mae Moak Starnes, Charles’s life was defined by determination, integrity, and service. After three honorable years in the Navy, he continued his military journey with the United States Air Force, serving 20 years as a Jet Mechanic. His dedication to excellence and tireless work ethic earned him the respect of all who served alongside him. Following his military retirement, Charles applied his skills as a machinist with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, continuing his legacy of hands-on craftsmanship and quiet leadership.
 
Charles was a cherished member of Ohio Valley Baptist Church. His faith was not just a belief—it was the foundation of his life, guiding him as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived his values through kindness, generosity, and an ever-present willingness to help others.  He shared a deep and joyful bond with his beloved wife, Patsy.  Whether at home or traveling to different racetracks, Charles and Patsy enjoyed watching NASCAR together. He was also a passionate fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, always ready to talk baseball and cheer on his team.
 
Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy Starnes of Ledbetter; one daughter, Sabrina Tucker (Larry) of Benton; one son, Charles Starnes Jr. of Ledbetter; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, along with one sister, Minnie Mae Howle, and one brother, James Harold Johnson.
 
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Garden with Rev. Rodney Cude officiating.
