Charles G. Dorr (Chuck), 69, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025 in hospice care surrounded by his family. He was born February 2, 1956 to Mary and Stan Dorr and grew up across the Midwest, but settled longest in Iowa. He moved to Oregon for his first job out of college - selling textbooks - and that is where he met his wife of nearly 40 years, Heather Dorr.
Chuck was a member of many churches in the different cities he lived in including Broadway United Methodist, New Covenant Church, and was a founding member of New Geneva in Paducah, KY. He also belonged to New City Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO and Clearwater Community Church in Dunedin, FL where he spent his last days.
For most of his life he was in pharmaceutical sales, which is ironic since he had so many ailments himself, but if you met him you would never know his struggles - unless you offered him a Civil Brown Ale.
He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, and driving fast cars, but mostly he loved his family. He was an adoring husband and devoted father who loved to travel and learn more about God. He obtained his Masters in Theology from Covenant Seminary in St Louis, MO in 2010, which was the only music concert of his kid’s that he ever missed. His passion was teaching others about financial literacy and he often volunteered at churches to help people with their budgets to get out of debt.
He is survived by his soulmate, Heather, his children, Justin (Emily), MK (Scipi), his not quite children Tim, Jeremiah, Divonte, and Haenee (Jae), his brother, Craig (Mary), his uncle Bert (Carolyn), his favorite people - the granddaughters - Winter and Charlie Ann, and tons more family and loving friends who were like family but are too many to list individually because he would have to purchase a whole page in the newspaper.
Chuck was greeted by many loved ones in heaven; his parents, his aunts, Shirley and Margie, his older sister, Judy, his younger twin sisters, Jayne and Joyce, and the 6 goldfish, 5 dogs, 3 cats, and a gerbil/rat, his daughter made him purchase.
Services will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. There will be an open visitation from 11:00 - 1:00 PM, a funeral service at 1:00 PM with Rev. Greg Waldrop and Rev. Don Watkins officiating, and the burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the National Kidney Foundation, Hope Unlimited, or the Market House Theatre.
