Charles Krause, age 85, passed away on July 4, 2026. He was born on October 24, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, and lived a life marked by steady service, quiet creativity, and deep devotion to the people he loved.
Charles retired from the Navy after years of honorable service to his country. His time in the Navy reflected the same sense of duty, discipline, and reliability that guided him throughout his life. In retirement, Charles found joy in the simple and meaningful things that made each day worthwhile. He loved to paint, and through his artwork he expressed patience, imagination, and a thoughtful eye for beauty. He also loved to build birdhouses, creating pieces that reflected both his skill and his appreciation for nature. Gardening was another of his favorite pastimes, and he took great satisfaction in it. Above all else, Charles loved his family. His greatest pride was the life he shared with those closest to him, and he treasured the bonds that connected them.
Charles is survived by three daughters, Christine (James) Toles of Owenton, Kentucky, PJ (Dennis) Humphries of New Bern, North Carolina, and Ronni (Dean) Herold of Rogersville, Tennessee; two sons, Fred (Renee) Baughman of Dallas, Texas, and Charles Krause of North Bend, Oregon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Smith of Glen Bernie, Maryland; and a brother, Tim Krause of Salem, Massachusetts.
