Daniel Robert Carpenter, known to many as Dan, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah. He was born on March 12, 1987, in Paducah, Kentucky, to John Michael Carpenter and Laurel Schamburg Carpenter.
Dan was a lifelong resident of Paducah, and his roots in the community ran deep. He was a proud 2005 graduate of Heath High School and a student at WKCTC and Murray State University, as well as an Eagle Scout (Troop 200). Dan recently spent his working life serving others through his role as a chef at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital. Before that, he was a valued employee at Just Hamburgers and helped his father, John, with Up In Smoke BBQ.
He loved learning about all manner of subjects, playing board games with friends, good cooking, and taking care of his pet cats.
Dan is survived by his mother, Laurel Carpenter of Paducah; his brother, Aaron Carpenter of Murray, KY; an uncle, Paul Schaumburg; his aunts, Joy (Dan) Hadfield, Linda Carpenter, Barbara Rankin, and Susan (Marvin) Raskin; several first cousins - Sam Hadfield, Laura (Patrick) Oswald, Brent Schaumburg, Evan Schaumburg, Jon Mullins, Travis (Sarah) Rankin, Matt Rankin, Alexandra (Chris) Packham, Rachel Raskin, and Cara Raskin - and dozens of other beloved extended family.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, John Michael Carpenter; his grandparents, Art and Laura Schamburg; and John E. and Roseanna Carpenter.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Paducah, with Pastor David Appold officiating. A Memorial visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.
Dan’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
