Doris Gresham, 92, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on April 9, 2026, at Providence Pointe Healthcare in Paducah.
She was born in Paducah to the late Boyd and Ann Rawlings Simmons. Doris was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home and family, creating a place where others always felt welcomed and loved.
Doris attended Heartland Worship Center and was an active member of her community. She was a member of the Paducah Ambassadors and the Paducah Chamber Music Society, and she dedicated over 30 years as a volunteer with the Paducah Tilghman High School Band Boosters. She was also involved for several years in the Homeowners Association of the West Park Village community.
Doris treasured the time spent with her neighborhood card-playing friends, who gathered often for hours, even creating their own games along the way. Known for her strong loyalty, Doris would always stand up for those she cared about and treated many as if they were family.
Her faith journey started with invitations from Jane Myre and others to the Christian Women’s Club of Paducah, where she was inspired to go deeper in her relationship with Jesus. She was also deeply impacted by the Fellowship at Barkley interdenominational conferences.
Doris is survived by her sons, Gary Gresham (Mary) of Paducah, Kentucky, Paul Gresham (Gisele) of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Ray Otey of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, whom she raised as a son; her stepdaughter, Kalee Gresham of Lexington, Kentucky; her sister, Rita Otey of Paducah, Kentucky; her brother, Arnold Simmons of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; six grandchildren; and many others she loved and cared for as family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James “Bob” Gresham, and her sister, Dorothy Fanoele.
