Dorothy P. Jones, 81 of Brookport, Illinois, peacefully transitioned on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at her home.
She was born on March 6, 1944, in Byhalia, MS, to Irene Stewart and Elijah Prachet. Dorothy dedicated 47 years of service to Lourdes Hospital (Mercy Health) and, in 2015, received the Sister Lucy Bonifas, OSF Spirit of the Mission Award. During her time in Memphis, TN, she was a dedicated member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian whose morning routine included reading her Daily Bread over a cup of coffee.
Everybody who knew Dot loved Dot. She was a kindhearted and giving woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what was right. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who deeply loved her family, friends, and community, including her lottery tickets.
Her love for her family and friends was evident in everything that she did, and if you were around her, there was never a doubt that you would always be well taken care of.
She was the second of 8 kids and is survived by her two daughters Sherry Fox and Sheila Lee (Robert Lee) of Long Beach, CA, her sisters Betty Bowles (Stanley) and Inez Tucker as well as her brother Donald Aldridge of Memphis, TN, her 4 grandchildren Devin Lander, Robert Lee, Ryan Lee and Renee Lee of Long Beach, CA, her fur baby Biscuit Calvin Lee and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews."
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Rob Ison officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Kenton Cemetery in Paducah. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
