Dwight Edward Potter, 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, at his home in Wickliffe, Kentucky.

 

Born on February 13, 1964, Dwight lived as a man of faith. He was a regular attendee of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Wickliffe. His belief was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his daily actions and providing comfort and strength. He was a proud graduate of Carlisle County High School, class of 1982. Dwight's foundation in education paved the way for a successful career as a self-employed carpenter. With skilled hands and a keen eye for detail, he crafted beautiful pieces that served as the framework for many homes and the treasured possessions of countless families. Dwight's talents extended beyond his professional life into his personal passions. Construction was not just a job for him; it was a way to express his creativity and leave a lasting legacy. His devotion to his family was unparalleled. He loved nothing more than spending time with them, sharing in their joys and celebrations, and being a steadfast presence in their lives. Dwight's role as a husband was one he held most dear, and his unwavering love for his wife was evident to all who knew them.

 

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Darla Chandler Potter of Wickliffe, Kentucky; two sons, Scott (Mylinda) Burnett of Paducah, Kentucky, and Dustin (Brittany) Smith of Wickliffe, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, Landyn Burnett, Darren Smith, Daegan Smith, Cayden Smith, Baylen Smith, Kasyn Burnett, Leegan Smith, Aurora Turner, Michael Smith, and Palmer Smith; a sister, Debra Potter Wright of Paducah; three brothers, Michael (Brittany) Potter of Barlow, Kentucky, Rob (Julie) Potter of Melbourne, Florida, and Tim Potter of Englewood, Florida.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Ransom and Mary Jane Shields Potter.

 

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Wickliffe, Kentucky, with Bro. Billie Prince and Bro. Cory Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Wickliffe City Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Wickliffe, Kentucky.
