Ethel Mae Yarbrough, age 83, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Paducah, Kentucky. She was born on October 13, 1942, in Pope County, Illinois, to the late Clayton and Sophia Ellis Cruson.
Education was important to Ethel Mae, and she pursued her studies with determination and purpose. She was a graduate of Murray State University and also completed her training at Fitzpatrick School of Hair Design. Her education helped shape the many ways she served others throughout her life, and she took pride in using her talents and abilities to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
Ethel Mae spent 15 years working as a hairdresser, where she not only provided a valued service but also formed lasting connections with the people she served. Later, she served as a teacher's aide for Paducah City Schools until her retirement, where her patience, kindness, and dependable nature made a meaningful impact on students and staff alike.
Faith was an important part of Ethel Mae's life, and she was a member of 12 Oaks Baptist Church. Her church family was a source of fellowship and strength, and her presence there was a reflection of her devotion and steadfast belief. Above all else, Ethel loved her family deeply. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with those closest to her.
Ethel Mae is survived by her daughter, Jana Lea (Stephen) Aldrich of Paducah; her two grandchildren, Allyssa Aldrich and Joshua Aldrich, along with her great-grandchild, Israel Aldrich.
Ethel Mae was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 46 years, James Thomas Yarbrough.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Danny Orazine officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
