Francis Eugene "Gene" Kilcoyne of Paducah, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the age of 88. Gene was born on December 22, 1936, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky.
Gene served in the Army and worked in Chicago before settling in Paducah. He then spent decades working as a barber. He had a passion for traveling the United States and visiting all the historical sites. Gene enjoyed reading The Paducah Sun and was a dedicated fan of John Grisham's novels. He loved watching the UK Wildcats and the St. Louis Cardinals. Gene's warmth, quick wit, and dedication to his family and interests will be deeply missed.
Gene is survived by two daughters Kristy (Glenn) Campbell of Paducah, Kentucky, and Sherrie (Stephen) Publicover of Southaven, Mississippi; one sister, Shirley Adams of Winston Salem, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Stefanie Carson, Jessica Lockler, Ava Campbell, Cameron Campbell, and Chase (Sierra) Campbell; and five great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Joseph and Anna Mabel (Cash) Kilcoyne; his lifelong partner, Lucile Hayden; and his siblings, Bill Kilcoyne, Herman Joe Kilcoyne, Gerald Kilcoyne, Toby Kilcoyne, Hazel Bully, and Donald Kilcoyne.
Gene donated his body to science through the Medical Education and Research Institute (MERI) Genesis in Memphis, TN.
