Gary Sanderson

Gary Sanderson of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on September 10, 1957, in Paducah, Kentucky, Gary was recognized for his strong work ethic, unwavering commitment to his job as a security guard, and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

After a fulfilling career as a Security Officer, Gary retired but never truly stopped contributing his labor and skills to various projects that interested him. A hard worker by nature, he occasionally worked in construction, combining his love for physical labor with his innate ability to improve and secure the structures around him. His dedication to nature and the great outdoors led him to take on the role of a park ranger, where he could merge his work with his love for the environment.

Gary's passion extended beyond his work as he was an avid sports fan. His loyalty to the Kentucky Wildcats was matched only by his fervor for the St. Louis Cardinals. Gary found joy in the strategic challenges of playing with his friends around the pool table, where he was competitive but always ready to share a laugh with those gathered alongside him. 
 
Gary is survived by his mother, Virginia Kathryn Collier Dowdy; his son, Benjamin Sanderson; two sisters, Phyllis (Ricky) Futrell and Pamela (Carl) Ellis; one brother, Craig Sanderson; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Sanderson; one son, Jacob Sanderson; and one sister, Tracey Gaia. 
 
A graveside funeral service will be held at the Paducah Holiness Church Cemetery at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with Bro. T.L. Futral officiating.
