Gene Wallace, age 77, of Benton, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
Gene was born in Paducah on July 27, 1948, to Leon and Martha (Leidecker) Wallace. He was a member of Twin Lakes Worship Center. Gene loved his family deeply, and he had a special bond with his dog, Gypsy, who was never far from his side. Nothing meant more to him than being “Papa” to his granddaughters - they were his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment he spent with them. He enjoyed the outdoors and found peace in the things he loved most: fishing, camping, and spending time out on the boat with his wife.
Gene is survived by two daughters, Calena “Tootie” Peeler and husband, Chris, of Paducah, and Cassandra Vaughn of Paducah; one sister, Linda Shelton and husband, Wayne, of Paducah; and five granddaughters, Gracie Peeler, Gabbie Peeler, Abigail Tracy, Allyson Tracy, and Hannah Clark.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Kay Housman Wallace; one daughter, Jeana Darnell; two brothers, Wayne Wallace and Phil Wallace.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Jeremy Short officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
