Gerald P. Long of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on December 6, 2025. Born in Livingston County, Kentucky, on September 14, 1963, Gerald will be remembered as a family man who could fix anything.
A proud graduate of Livingston County High School, Gerald dedicated his professional life to honing his expertise as a skilled maintenance worker, welder, and equipment operator. He worked for many years in the marine industry at Walker Boats.
Beyond his career, Gerald was the epitome of a family man. He embraced his role as husband, dad, brother, and friend. Gerald loved casting a line into a lake or navigating the quiet woods, a testament to his lifelong love for fishing and hunting. These moments in nature, often shared with family and friends, were the times Gerald treasured most.
Camping under the stars, Gerald found solace in the simple joy of a crackling fire and the stories that wove his family's history. His ability to fix anything that crossed his path was legendary, not only because of his technical skills but also due to the love he poured into each task. Whether it was a broken toy or a stubborn engine, Gerald approached every challenge with a can-do spirit and a heart full of perseverance.
Gerald is survived by his wife Ruby Leigh Long; one daughter, Ashley (Quinton) Harris of Burna, Kentucky; two sons, Michael James Leigh of Sharpe, Kentucky and Joey (Jessica) Long of Kuttawa, Kentucky; one sister, Sharon (Bob) Martin of Unionville, Illinois; one brother, David (Rita) Ray of Livingston County, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Ann Agent and Harry Long; one brother, Stevie Long; and one granddaughter, Chelsie Leigh.
A Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Aaron Helton officiating.
Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. at the funeral home and continue until the service starts at 1 P.M.
