GySgt James “Jimmy” Vance, 87, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Jimmy was born on June 7, 1937, to the late James Andrew Vance and Ella Belle Ward Vance in Ballard County, Kentucky. He was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam War. Jimmy was a retired electrician and worked in the maintenance department with Martin Marietta. He was a member of Grace Valley Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Nadie Murray Vance; a daughter, Teresa “Terri” Drake and her husband, Travis of Kevil; a son, Christopher “Chris” James Vance of Paducah; two grandchildren, Collin and Allyssa Drake; two sisters, Carolyn Simpson and Joyce Goodwin both of Paducah; and a brother, Anthony “Tony” Vance of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Evelyn Grace, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Grace Valley Baptist Church in Kevil with Pastor Glen Crowe officiating. Military Honors will follow.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
