Harry Reed Alvis, 80, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital on November 10, 2025.

Born in Florence, Alabama, on January 7, 1945, to Clyde and Edith Alvis, Harry lived a life defined by faith, service, and dedication.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and went on to serve his country with honor, later retiring from the U.S. Army Reserves at the rank of Captain.

Harry earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of North Alabama and later received his Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama.  He began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant with Ernst and Ernst, and went on to serve in key leadership roles with HCA, Health Trust, Quorum, and Sunlink, contributing to healthcare systems in numerous cities throughout his career.  Known as a legend in the healthcare community, Harry was respected for his integrity, leadership, and friendship by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

He deeply loved the Lord, his family, and his country.  He was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church and served as Senior Lay Leader.  

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Edith Alvis; his brother, Steve Alvis; and his two sisters, Connie Rice and Kathy Fredrickson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Alecia Alvis; his daughter, Jennifer Alvis; and his stepdaughter, whom he lovingly claimed as his own, Jennifer Alexander.  He was the proud grandfather of Laken (Alex) Allen and Tristan (Jeffrey) Mathis.  Harry was the adoring great-grandfather to Brylee and Blakely.  He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Broadway United Methodist Church with Rev. Justin Ramer officiating.  Visitation will also be at the church beginning at 10 A.M. and continuing until the service begins at 11 A.M.

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of gifts to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, or to the Broadway United Methodist Church of Paducah, 701 Broadway Street, Paducah, Kentucky 42001.
