Hilda Ann McGee Cannon, 89, of Arlington, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Hilda was born March 30, 1937, in Arlington to Thomas Adrain “Boots” and Carrie Burge McGee.
Hilda married Carly Cannon on July 18, 1953, in Corinth, Mississippi. Bobby Meshew and Carolyn Jones Hickerson were in attendance and remained her closest friends.
In 1972, Hilda completed her associate’s degree in nursing and worked at Clinton-Hickman County Hospital until her retirement.
She was well known for her gardening and was always so willing to share the beautiful flowers she grew. She also shared her love through the lovely quilts she made for each family member and the bountiful meals she prepared.
Hilda was also a gifted singer and devoted church worker. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Milburn Baptist Church, where she faithfully served until her illness prevented her from continuing.
Hilda is survived by her husband of 73 years, Carly Cannon; daughter, Beverly James; sons, Steve (Paulette) Cannon and Howell Lee Cannon; daughter-in-law, Cindy Cannon; grandchildren, Amanda (Darren) Warren, Linsey (Seth) McPherson, Jenna (Ben) Wilson, Clay (Brandi) Cannon, and Clint (Becca) Cannon; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; lifelong friends Eva Walker and Loretta Lane.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charlie Cannon; son-in-law, Bro. Rocky James; grandson, Justin James; sister, Pat Chaney; brothers, Buford McGee, Tommy McGee, Kenny McGee, and Gary McGee; and her parents.
The family will be forever grateful for the love and care shown to Mrs. Hilda by her caregiver, Marilyn Ring.
A funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington, with Bro. Ricky Burton and Glen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
