James Arthur Cole, age 72, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1953, in Westmoreland, Tennessee, to the late James David Cole and Margaret Dean (Graves) Cole.

James proudly served in the United States Army, where he answered the call to duty with honor and commitment. During Desert Storm, he served with the 807th Theater Medical Command, contributing his time and skills in support of others during a period of great need. His military service was a source of pride throughout his life, and those who knew him understood that his sense of duty and loyalty extended far beyond his years in uniform. James devoted his working years to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse. He retired after many years of service in local hospitals and nursing home facilities.

James was a man with a huge heart and a gift for bringing laughter to those around him. His playful sense of humor left many with stories to tell and smiles to remember. He enjoyed taking care of his friends and family, and he found great joy in being there for others in both practical and meaningful ways. He also loved cooking and fishing, two pastimes that brought him peace and happiness. In the kitchen, he loved cooking meals and sharing recipes that has created generational memories. He had great joy in sharing good food with those he loved.

James is survived by his wife of 40+ years, Jana L (Baker) Cole of Paducah; a son, Jay Cole of Wisconsin (sp. Tay Cole); his two daughters, Nicky Cole of Grand Chain, IL, and Jamie Cole of Paducah; his four granddaughters, Tiffany Carneal, Macy Carneal, Lilly Humphrey, and Maura Cole; a great-grandson, Nash Nolan; and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother.
