James Byerley, 53, of Lovelaceville, Kentucky, passed away on August 30, 2025, at his residence. He was born on November 11, 1971, to Elbert Ray Byerley and Marilyn Parker.
From an early age, James possessed a kindness and generosity that drew people to him. James's love for music was well known amongst his friends and family, especially songs from his favorite radio station, 106.7. His passion for Superman was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of the person he was—an everyday hero to his family. Strong yet humble, always ready to extend a helping hand, he embodied the qualities of the icon he admired.
A devoted husband and amazing father, James's dedication and support knew no bounds. 24 years ago, he met the love of his life, to whom he has been happily married for 19 memorable years. They were each other's best friend, confidant, and the love of each other's lives, a testament to what true partnership and commitment can be. As a father, he was always present and deeply involved in the lives of his children. His belief in the power of education shaped his approach to parenting, and he worked hard to make life easier and filled with opportunities for his kids. While he took great pride in being a father, nothing compared to the joy he found in being a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he loved them more than anything in the world. His face would light up with the purest joy at the sound of their laughter.
James is survived by his wife of 19 years, Janice Byerley; three daughters, Kristen (Brian) Perkins, of Lovelaceville, Kentucky, Darlie Byerely, of Lovelaceville, and Allison (Eli English) Byerley, of Carbondale, Illinois; one son, Dustin Lane, of Metropolis, Illinois; two God-daughters, Michaela Meyer, of Wickliffe, and McKenzie Meyer, of Barlow, Kentucky; his mother, Marilyn Parker; two brothers, Joe Byerley, of Lovelaceville, and Thomas (Carol) Byerley, of Benton, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Trinity Lane, Serinity Lane, Kaiden Perkins, and Asher English.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Christie Byerley; one niece, Naomi Byerley; and his father.
