James W. Hack passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the age of 82. James was born on June 18, 1943, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Geneva Butler Hack.

James served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  James returned to civilian life and worked many jobs, eventually retiring as a Constable in Union City, Tennessee, where he became not just a protector of the peace but also a pillar of the community.

In addition to his commendable service in the military and law enforcement, James was deeply invested in his Baptist faith.  His dedication to brotherhood extended beyond the church as he was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #127, Rizpah Shriners, and a lifetime member of the VFW.  His engagement with the Masons, Shriners, and VFW allowed him to forge strong bonds with his fellow members, embracing the principles of fraternity, charity, and mutual respect that these organizations uphold.

James is survived by his daughter, Tonya Thompson, and her husband, Chris, of Paducah; two grandchildren, Madison Paige Pevahouse and her husband, Michael, of Paducah, and Gavin Jay Holshouser of Lexington, Kentucky; two great-grandchildren, Margot and Gellar Pevahouse, and his step-grandchildren, Kaylee Gaia and Dylan Thompson; his significant other, Betty Caudle, and her grandchildren, Addi and Dylan Caudle of Union City, Tennessee; a sister, Sharon Dunlap of the Heath Community; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Canter; three half-sisters, Flora Mae Morris, Pauline Harper, and Annabelle Taldo; four brothers, Kerry Hack, Mikey Hack, Bobby Hack, and Johnny Hack.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
