James W. (Jim) Winn of Paducah passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in Paducah.

Jim was born on September 16, 1940, in Graves County, Kentucky.

Preceding him in death were his parents, W.T. and Linda Winn of Mayfield, and a brother, William Winn.

Jim fulfilled his Biblical covenant of marriage with love and faithfulness, leaving behind his wife of 66 years, Mary Faith Ward. He is also survived by his daughter, Jill Farris (Kevin), of Paducah, and his son, Jason Winn (Holly), of Franklin, TN. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Elizabeth Purcell (Clay), of Madison, MS, Caroline Wilcox of Paducah, and Carson and Hadley Winn of Franklin, TN. Additionally, he leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Winn Purcell, his namesake, and Clayton and Kilby Purcell.

Known as Coach Winn, Jim was a teacher and coach for 32 years in Paducah Public Schools, serving elementary schools, Jetton and Paducah Tilghman.  His favorite years were at his beloved Jetton, where he coached basketball and football. He served and mentored the youth of Paducah through summer recreational activities.

After retirement, he worked at the McCracken County Courthouse and local Funeral homes as a greeter.

He and his wife enjoyed UK basketball and traveling, even backpacking in their sixties across Europe. Their grandchildren were their pride and joy.

Most importantly, Jim was a Bible-believing follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member of Lone Oak church of Christ for more than 60 years. He served as a deacon over visitors and shut-ins part of that time.

A special thanks to Jamey Boone, Pastoral Care minister at Lone Oak Church of Christ and caregivers Christina Cruse and Blanche DeWolfe.
