Jan Reid, age 79 of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 2:42 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, in Paducah. Jan was born on August 30, 1946, in Mayfield, Kentucky, to the late Hilton Myers and Johnnie Mae Hayes Myers.
Jan, better known as Nana, loved her family unconditionally. Her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter were her entire world. You could always count on her to be there. Whether it was a family dinner, a dance competition, a hockey game, a choir concert, a classic game of cards, or cheering under the Friday night lights-you never had to wonder. She was there. Her quick wit, playful humor, and open heart made everyone feel loved and accepted just as they were. Jan was of the Baptist Faith.
Starting her career in the medical field as a candy striper at Western Baptist Hospital, she continued for 42 years of service at Lourdes Hospital as a surgical technician in the endoscopy department. Jan left a long-lasting impression on her co-workers and physicians. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, watching the birds from her swing, and shopping. You could always find her on a cool morning, sipping coffee on the back porch or shopping on a Saturday with the grandkids. Music always held a special place in Nana’s heart; she passed that love down through her family and friends. As a young girl, she performed with her older sister and two cousins in the Jubilee Four. Accompanied by her father, they would perform all over town, singing hymns and originals of their own. From gospel to folk and especially rock n roll, she always had a song to sing.
Nana would describe herself as a happy person. To her family, she was that and so much more- loving, accepting, and generous with her laughter and grace. We will carry her wisdom with us, hold her memories close, and continue telling the stories of her legacy for generations to come.
