Jerry Keith Horton, 73, of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 5:41 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Mercy Health Lourdes. He was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 24, 1951 to the late Jesse W. Horton and Bobbie Adams Horton. Jerry worked as a sales clerk for several years and was of the Baptist faith. He loved taking care of animals and giving them a good home. Jerry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mercy Health Lourdes and Lourdes Hospice for their loving care that they gave to Jerry in the past several weeks.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. Horton of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Beth A. (Greg) Simmons of Boaz, Kentucky; two brothers, Kent Horton of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Kevin (Rita Siavelis) Horton of Portland, Maine and several nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services will be held at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
