Jill Gott Wrye, age 72, of Kevil, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 8, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah. She was born on June 25, 1954, in Paducah, to James Thomas Gott and Dorothy Louise Fondaw Gott.
Jill graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1972 and earned her degree from Western Kentucky University in 1976. She later completed her education at Salmon P. Chase College of Law, preparing herself for a career that reflected both her intelligence and her determination. Jill went on to own and operate her own law firm, Jill Gott Attorney at Law, for seven years. She was a court-appointed special advocate for children, a Paducah City Commissioner, and a volunteer at Paducah Red Cross. Through her work, she demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a sincere commitment to serving others. After her years in practice, she made the loving decision to become a stay-at-home mother so she could devote her time and attention to caring for her children, a role she embraced with great devotion and pride.
Jill was known by all who loved her as a wonderful cook and a gracious hostess. She had a true heart for hospitality and found joy in bringing family and friends together for any occasion. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a simple meal, or a special celebration, she created an atmosphere of warmth and welcome that made others feel at home. Her table was often a place of laughter, conversation, and cherished memories, and her kindness in hosting others was one of the many ways she expressed her love.
Her faith was central to her life. Jill loved the Lord deeply and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Paducah, where she taught Sunday School. She lived her beliefs through her actions and encouraged and strengthened those around her. Her family could always count on her to be their prayer warrior, and she carried their joys and burdens with a faithful heart. Her prayers, her compassion, and her steadfast love were gifts that will long be remembered.
Jill is survived by her husband of 41 years, David Wrye; one daughter, Annie Wrye of Paducah; two sons, Will Wrye (Anne) of Paducah, Blair Wrye (Elena) of Paducah; two sisters, Betty Clark (Emmett) of Ohio, Carol Parrish of Paducah; one brother, Jimmy Gott (Shirley) of Paducah; five grandchildren, Esther Wrye, Eden Wrye, James Wrye, Forrest Wrye, Joseph Wrye, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Paducah, with Dr. Brian Arnold officiating, along with reflections and memories of Jill’s life to be shared by her brother-in-law, retired minister Emmett Clark.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Paducah.
