Jim Wright, 83, of Arlington, Kentucky, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2025. Jim was born on Wolf Island in Hickman County, Kentucky, to the late George and Louise Wright on May 26, 1942.
Jim owned and operated the Truck Stop and Citgo Convenience Store in Arlington for many years, becoming a prominent figure in the community. His work ethic was matched only by his expertise with heavy equipment, as well as his skills in repairing towboats and farming.
His laughter was infectious, and he cherished the company of his friends, with whom he shared countless good jokes and stories. No morning was complete without his presence at Carol's Restaurant, where he was a “round table” staple. After breakfast, you could find him cruising around town, simply enjoying life, watching westerns, or spending time in his shop “tinkering”. Anyone who stopped by could find him "supervising" projects, always ready to offer a wisecrack.
Jim loved his dog, Sadie, and would often joke that he loved Sadie more than anything. However, anyone who knew Jim knew that it was his granddaughter, Charlize, who held the most special place in his heart. His love for her was endless, and he was known to boast about her achievements and the joy she brought into his life.
As we say goodbye to the incomparable Jim Wright, we are grateful for the time we spent with him, the lessons he taught us, and the laughter he brought into our lives.
Jim is survived by his sons, Jimmy Wright, of Arlington, and Timmy Terry, of Arlington; his beloved granddaughter, Charlize Wright; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Wright Davis; two brothers, Lee Wright and George Wright; and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Rick Brazelton speaking. Burial will follow at Columbus Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Bardwell VFW Post 5409, 54 Hillsdale Street, Bardwell, Kentucky, 42023.
