Jimmie Holt, age 81, of Wickliffe, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, and fulfilled his final wish to be at home surrounded by the love of his friends and family.
In his earlier years, Jimmie began his work experience as a farmer, which instilled in him a work ethic that became the hallmark of his character. Transitioning from the fields to industry, he then spent many rewarding years at Westvaco Timberlands, where his strengths and skills led to a dedicated career as an ironworker, which he later retired from. For Jimmie, work wasn’t a duty, it was his hobby. No matter the task, he found joy and satisfaction in a job well done.
His commitment to work was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith. Jimmie held the role of Deacon at Blandville Baptist Church with utmost respect. His service to his faith community was a testament to his deeply held beliefs, and in quieter moments, Jimmie was always found immersed in his Bible.
Above all, Jimmie cherished the time spent with his family and friends. He was a true people person and was well known for tinkering in his shop, doing many different jobs for his friends, always with “a coke and a smile”. Jimmie will be remembered as a man who worked with his hands and his heart. Even in his last days, his desire was to “Go to church and eat at the Bluegrass,” a testament to his faith and community.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diann Holt; one daughter, Julie (Matt) Stevens, of Kevil, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Jaela (Ridge) Wildharber, Brody Holt, and Kenton Holt; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Moose.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Holt, and his parents, Ollie and Viola Holt.
