Jimmie Medlin, age 81, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at 11:57 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home.
Jimmie was born in Ballard County on March 2, 1943, to James Thomas Medlin and Wilma Pauline Hall Medlin. Jimmie was a long-time member of the Woodlawn Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Jimmie worked at Western Baptist Hospital for 16 years as an orderly where he enjoyed serving people. He retired after 25 years of service at the USEC Nuclear Plant. Jimmie loved people and during his retirement he found ways to serve others by delivering flowers for Super Value and prescriptions for Rick’s Pharmacy. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, Kentucky Basketball and playing a good game of Rook. His greatest moments were spent with his family whom he dearly loved.
Survivors include his treasured wife of 59 years, Dortha Dykes Medlin; one daughter, Lorie (Jeff) Carrell, Paducah, Kentucky; one son, Kevin (Candie) Medlin, Lebanon, Tennessee; one sister, Paula Downs, Paducah; six grandchildren, Ashlyn (Chad) Kippert, Justin (Jennifer) Carrell, Paige Medlin, Micah (Nick) Cline, Jordan (Nick) Vantrease and Braden (Mclain) Reece; eight great-grandchildren, Adyson Kippert, Sadie Kippert, Judah Carrell, Esther Carrell, Breysean Vantrease, Nalah Vantrease, Nike Vantrease and Oakleigh Cline.
Preceding in death were his parents and one brother, Larry Medlin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Revs. Kevin Medlin, Jeff Carrell, Chad Kippert and Ashlyn Kippert officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until service time of 2:00 p.m. at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
