Jimmy Dale McMurtry passed away on February 21, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.

He was born in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Charles S. McMurtry and Clanthe Sue Stamper McMurtry.
Jimmy worked as an electrician for many years, primarily in construction at TVA sites. During his career, he worked at the Shawnee Power Plant and the Paradise Combined Cycle & Combustion Turbine Plant in Drakesboro, Kentucky.

A faithful man, Jimmy attended High Point Pentecostal Church in Paducah, where he truly loved and valued his church family.

Music was one of Jimmy’s greatest joys. He loved playing his bass guitar and looked forward to weekly jam sessions with friends. Whether he was making music or spending time at the drag races, he found happiness in the simple things and the people around him.

Jimmy will be remembered most for his generous spirit and kind heart. He was the kind of man who would “give you the shirt off his back,” always willing to lend a hand or help someone in need. He loved his family deeply and treasured the time he spent with them.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Iva McMurtry of Paducah, Kentucky; his daughters, Valerie Lynn (Timothy) Farmer of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, Melissa Eichorst of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Paizley Blake of Paducah, Kentucky; his son, Kevin (Sherry) Golden of Glasgow, Kentucky; his sister, Donna Kay (Daniel) Kroener of Hendersonville, Tennessee; his brother, Ronald Lynn (Nancy) McMurtry of Mayfield, Kentucky; his half-sister, Clanthe Akers of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ryan Todd McMurtry, and his half-brother, Harry Ray Porter.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with Pastor Jeremy Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Marshall County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the funeral home.
