Jo Anne Burton, 91, of Arlington, Kentucky, passed away on June 25, 2025, at Providence Pointe Healthcare. Born on December 20, 1933, in Arlington, Kentucky, Jo Anne's radiant spirit shone brightly for all who knew her throughout her 91 years.
A devout Christian and a dedicated member of Arlington First Baptist Church, Jo Anne invested her heart and soul into her faith. Her love for Christ was unmistakable in her actions and the way she lived her life, always putting others before herself. Jo Anne also dedicated more than three decades of her life to Citizens Deposit Bank. Her hard work and genuine care for her clients were traits admired by her colleagues and the community alike.
Known lovingly as "Mama Jo," Jo Anne’s nurturing disposition extended far beyond her own family, earning her the affectionate title. Her inability to say no was not seen as a flaw but rather a reflection of her immense compassion, always looking for ways to help and please others.
Beyond her professional and spiritual contributions, Jo Anne loved watching basketball, which brought another dimension of excitement to her life. She was a passionate NBA Basketball fan, with a particular love for the Golden State Warriors. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch and talking with friends or those who stopped by for a visit.
Jo Anne Burton's life was one of generosity, laughter, and devout commitment to her beliefs. Although she has departed from this world, “Mama Jo” will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and smiles for the joy she brought into the lives she touched.
Jo Anne is survived by her son, Bruce Burton, of Nashville, Tennessee; her daughter, Linda Burton, of Paducah, Kentucky, and by her nieces and nephews, Cliff Simmons Jr., Debbie Simmons, Celia Hickman, Joy Burton, Tina Burgess, and Gina Webb. Their love and care provided her with deep comfort, joy, and strength, especially during her most difficult days. Their unwavering presence was a reflection of the love she had poured into them throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Burton Jr.; her sisters, Patricia Carter and Linda Burgess; and her parents, John and Elsie Magruder.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Dustin Dillion officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.
