Joe E. Tilley, 88, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at his home.

Born on May 1, 1937, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Wilson and Dorothy Buckingham Tilley. As a young man, Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. His patriotism and dedication to service were hallmarks of his character, traits that echoed throughout his life and resonated with all who knew him. Joe was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and later found fellowship and solace in Immanuel Baptist Church, where his presence was a source of strength and joy to others. Known affectionately by his friends as "Go Joe" for his love of traveling, he never missed an opportunity to explore new places and make new memories. Joe loved to stay active when he could and would do so by walking at the mall. His favorite restaurant was Cracker Barrel, where he could be found savoring his preferred dishes and partaking in the warm, homely atmosphere. Joe's passion for the University of Kentucky Basketball team was a fierce and defining aspect of his identity. Joe’s love for Westerns was unmatched. The tales of cowboys, vast frontiers, and steadfast heroes mirrored his own perspective on life.

Joe is survived by a step-daughter, Angela Reed, and her husband, Daryl Gardner; three grandchildren, Amber Arrington of Springfield, Missouri, Laz-Eric Johnson of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Palise Neal of Decatur, Illinois; and a great-grandchild, Ali Arrington.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Carolyn Barnhill Tilley; his life companion of 33 years, Lucille Voytas; a daughter, Renee Neal; and his parents.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Mercy Health Hospice, Professional Case Management and the special nurses, Natalie Montgomery, Sydney Ingram, Ashley Weitlauf, Amanda McLelland Hope Gresham, Hope Robertson, Susan Ballard, the Case Manager Randy Ladd, and the Community Home Care Outreach Representative, Taylor King.
