Johnny H. Tichenor, 89, of Paducah, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. He was born on May 22, 1937, in Centertown, KY, in Ohio County, to the late R.C. Tichenor and Emma St. Claire Tichenor.
Johnny was a man who believed in doing things the right way and taking pride in a job completed with care. He spent his working years as a building contractor, where his skill, dependability, and strong work ethic earned the respect of those who knew him. He was known for his practical nature, his straightforward manner, and his ability to meet life’s challenges with patience and resolve. Those who spent time with him knew him as a man who did not seek attention, yet whose presence was deeply felt.
One of Johnny’s greatest joys was tending a large garden, especially when it came to growing tomatoes. He took great pleasure in working the soil, watching things grow, and enjoying the rewards of his efforts. His garden reflected the same care and persistence that guided his life.
Johnny is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Katherine Bearden and Marie Eckard, as well as his three brothers, Henry Tichenor, Arnold Tichenor, and Glenn Tichenor.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Brook Hill Memorial Park & Mausoleums, with Rev. Kenneth Puckett officiating. There will be no visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of all arrangements.
