Joyce Burnett Smith

Joyce Burnett Smith, age 75, passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Joyce was born on August 28, 1950, in Michigan to the late R. L. Burnett and Anna Lois Burnett. She attended Lone Oak High School and went on to work many years at the Florsheim Shoe Factory, Triangle Insulation, and Dillard’s. Joyce was known for her reliability and dedication, always doing her best for those she worked alongside.

A woman of faith, Joyce was a member of Christ Community Church and lived her life guided by Christian values. She found joy in sewing and knitting, searching for treasures at yard sales, and caring for her home. Joyce had a heart for giving and a natural desire to make others happy. If someone admired something she owned, she would gladly give it away without a second thought-her generosity knew no limits.

Joyce’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who put the needs of others before her own. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and giving heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Sammy Smith of Paducah, Kentucky; her daughters, Kim (Kerry) Green of Paducah, Kentucky, and Melanie (Timmy) Coles of Wingo, Kentucky; her son, Michael (Laura) Smith of Paducah, Kentucky; her sisters, Deborah Britt of Fenton, Missouri, and Sharon Stuart of Paducah, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Schmidt, and her brothers, Ronnie Burnett and Edward Burnett.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak, with Bro. Tim Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Glorybarn Cemetery, 122 Bethel Church Road, Melber, Kentucky 42069.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak.
