Kathy Lee Powell, 68 of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on December 5, 2025, at her residence. She was born on August 31, 1957, in Paducah to the late Elvis Powell and Lucille Leidecker.
A proud graduate of Reidland High School, Kathy's dedication to her studies was only matched by her commitment to her career. She retired from Western Baptist Hospital, where she served as a Health Unit Coordinator.
Kathy was a member of Bellview Baptist Church. Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Kathy had a passion for the simple pleasures. She was an ardent lover of cats, finding joy in the company of her feline friends. Their playful antics and affectionate natures brought a smile to her face and contentment to her heart.
One of Kathy's favorite pastimes was visiting New Orleans, a city that captured her imagination with its vibrant culture, music, and cuisine. She cherished the memories created in the Crescent City with friends and family.
Kathy is survived by a sister, Janice (Larry) Mathis of Smithland, KY; her nieces, Tammy Renee Mathis of Decatur, Alabama, and Heather Michelle Council of Paducah; a step-brother, Kelly Ray (Michelle) Laird of Bardwell, KY; an uncle, Albert (Shirley) Leidecker of Paducah, and a great-niece, Chelsey Nicole Council.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Elvis Powell; her mother, Lucille Leidecker Laird; and stepfather, Freddy Ray Laird.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, December 12, 2025, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah with Dr. Bob Whitter officiating. There will be no visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
