Marcia Jean Finkel Nemer
It is with profound sadness, but with a sense of sincere gratitude for a life well-lived, that the family of Marcia Jean Finkel Nemer announces her passing on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the age of 102.
Marcia was the daughter of Eve and Sam Finkel (of the former Finkel Fair Stores). She was born in Paducah, Kentucky, and lived most of her amazing life there. Following graduation from Augusta Tilghman High School, she attended Stephens College, Columbia, MO, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI. Soon after college, she met the love of her life, Marshall Eugene Nemer, with whom she enjoyed a beautiful life and a happy marriage for 57 years.
Marcia loved her life as a homemaker, sewing, gardening, and spending quality time with friends and family. She was a devoted lifelong member of Temple Israel, an active participant in the Dogwood Garden Club and the Girl Scouts of America, and a dedicated supporter of both Paducah Community College and Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.
Mrs. Nemer is survived by daughter, Sally Nemer Wheeler, Paducah, KY, son, Robert (Martha), Nashville, TN, grandchildren Sam Wheeler, Shelbyville, KY, Ben Wheeler (Kristin) Canyon Lake, TX, Jacob Nemer (April), Nashville, TN, Matthew Nemer (Abigail) Chicago, IL, great grandchildren, Izabel Wheeler, Jordan Wheeler, Marshall Wheeler, Henry Nemer, Laura Nemer and Robert Nemer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall, sister, Caroline Yaffe, and her parents.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm, Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Temple Israel Cemetery, 2535 Lone Oak Road Paducah, KY 42001, with Rabbi Mark Schiftan officiating. A celebration of life will be held afterwards at Temple Israel, 330 Joe Clifton Drive, Paducah, KY 42001.
