Mark Allen Hammons, age 66, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away on June 30, 2025 in Big Sky, Montana. Born on February 4, 1959, in Paducah, Kentucky, Mark's journey was a testament to a life well-lived, grounded in faith and servant leadership.
A proud 1977 graduate of Lone Oak High School, Mark continued his education with a passion for health and wellness. He earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from David A. Lipscomb College, subsequently completed the physical therapy program at the prestigious Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, and later obtained his master’s degree from the Krannert School of Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis. His dedication to his profession was evident in his 37 years as a physical therapist, culminating in his current position at Atlas Physical Therapy.
As a devout Christian and devoted member of the Broadway Church of Christ, Mark humbly served as a teacher and an Elder. His deep love for Christ was paralleled by his love for his family and community, always bound with gentle strength and wisdom.
Mark was a proud fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. A notable athlete himself, Mark's leadership extended to coaching multiple sports, including tennis, basketball, baseball, and football. By embracing the roles of coach and mentor, he left a legacy of encouragement and pride in all of his children's achievements.
A lover of nature, shared time away and great coffee, Mark enjoyed simple pleasures of life with his family. He was always listening to new music and had a deep appreciation and talent in the arts. Mark took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports and spending as much time with them as possible.
Mark will be remembered as the embodiment of steadfast love. He loved studying his Bible and was gifted in his ability to synthesize complex theology and deliver practical suggestions for application. His was a heart that beat with kindness, patience, loyalty, and warmth. Those who knew him felt the comfort of his anchoring faith, one that will be missed by many.
Mark is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pam Hammons; his three children, Marcy Binkley (Brennon) of Franklin, Tennessee, Ellie Featherstone (Sam) of Spring Hill, Tennessee and Grant Hammons (Emily Frink) of New Albany, Indiana; his mother, Patricia Hammons of Paducah; one brother, Barry Hammons of Paducah; and seven grandchildren, Hudson Featherstone, Hadley Featherstone, Bailey Binkley, Jett Binkley, Luke Binkley, Louie Hammons and Kit Hammons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hammons and beloved uncle, Jerry Anderson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Broadway Church of Christ.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Broadway Church of Christ with Dan Owen officiating.
