Marshall Lynn Payne, 75, of Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on June 26, 2025.
Marshall was a man who found great solace in the outdoors. In his earlier years, he loved to hunt. As time moved on and life took its turns, Marshall discovered a new pastime that brought joy to his days. Alongside his dear friend David McGee, he found solace in feeding the birds at the nursing home and fishing from the dock. Marshall was convinced that the pier was built “just for him.”
The final chapter of Marshall's life was written within the walls of the Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. For over 18 years, the center was his home, and the staff and nurses his extended family. Their dedication and loving care for Marshall created a warm environment where he felt valued, loved, and respected. His family extends their deepest gratitude to the team at Countryside for their unwavering support and for ensuring Marshall’s days were filled with comfort.
Marshall is survived by his daughter, Misty Hodges, of Ballard County; two sisters, Paula Perry of Bardwell and Janis Owens of Bardwell; one brother, Terry (Janet) Payne of Bardwell; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Puckett, and his parents, Marshall Payne and Lorene Shrodes.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with Bro. Mark Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
