Babe Perry, age 94, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Babe was a member of the Heartland Church and a former member of the Massac Methodist Church. Babe was born on November 26, 1931, to Jim Rushing and Cora Lee Legate Rushing and was the sixth of fifteen children. Babe attended all twelve years at Lone Oak High School and was a varsity cheerleader for four years. Babe had an outstanding work ethic, which included cleaning, gardening, riding tobacco setter, stripping tobacco, cooking at the cafeteria, babysitting, fishing, at the dairy milking cows, and she did leave time to visit and talk to people. Babe retired from Lone Oak Middle School Cafeteria, where she spent 30 enjoyable years. Babe spent her last few years fishing and watching basketball and baseball on TV. Babe still found time to be with and enjoy her family.
Survivors include one son, Dale Perry and wife Donna of Paducah, Ky; three grandchildren, Stacy (Jeff) Hamlin, Lauren Perry Wyatt and Lana Clark; five great-grandchildren, Camryn Clark, Landi Clark, Ansley Hamilton, Myra Hamlin and Tripp Wyatt; one sister, Shirley (Will) Myers; three brothers, Kenneth (Elene) Rushing, Buddy (Ann) Rushing and Roy (Sharon) Rushing; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death was her husband, James. E. Perry; grandson-in-law, Wes Clark; parents, Jim and Cora Rushing; six sisters, Ann Boatwright, Rebecca “Beck” Metcalf, Allie “Dink” Jones, Joyce Guhy, Margie Schnittger and Betty Rushing; four brothers, Jimmy Rushing, Bill Rushing, Don Rushing and Bob Rushing.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. John Smithmier officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time of 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Private Entombment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
