Mary Elizabeth Rudolph, known to many as Mary Rudolph, passed away on September 10, 2026, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky, at the age of 98.
She was born on December 13, 1927, in Massac County, Illinois, and lived a long life marked by grace, strength, devotion, and quiet generosity.
Mary was a graduate of Brookport High School, and she valued the foundation that her education provided throughout her life. In her working years, she was employed as a hairdresser, a profession in which she used both skill and care to serve her community.
Mary was deeply involved in her church and community. She was a devoted member of Margaret Hank Cumberland Church. She also belonged to Beta Sigma Phi for more than 50 years, a remarkable span of dedication that spoke to her loyalty and enduring friendships.
Among her many gifts, Mary was especially known as a very talented seamstress. She had a careful hand and an eye for detail, and her sewing reflected both patience and creativity. Mary also found joy in the simple comforts of home. She loved tending to the surroundings of her property, especially her rose bushes, all the way down to trimming the saplings that sprang up around her alley.
Above all, Mary loved her family. Her love was steady, sincere, and enduring, and it was evident to those around her throughout her life.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Laura Wilson (Richard), of White Bluff, Tennessee; a son, Jay Rudolph (Cindy), of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Shane Rudolph (Shelby), Trista Rudolph, Jaymie Wilson, Kaitlin Wilson, and Nicholas Wilson; and five great-grandchildren, Stella Rudolph, Bryer Hargrove, Brady Thomason, Brantley Thomason, and Karli Nuckolls.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Billy J. Rudolph, her parents, William Robert Giltner and Estelle Pergande Giltner, and three sisters, Mildred Kelton, Alice Cummins, and Wilma Medders.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, September 14, 2026, with Bro Chris Flemming officiating. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
