Nancy Elizabeth Effinger, 78, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Paducah, Kentucky, the city where she was born on September 15, 1947.
A proud graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, Class of 1965, she went on to pursue higher education with purpose and enthusiasm. Nancy earned a master’s degree in library science from Brigham Young University, preparing herself for a career devoted to learning, organization, and the sharing of knowledge. Nancy was also a proud and faithful member of Heartland Church.
Her professional life reflected both her intelligence and her sense of adventure. Nancy served as library director at Teton County Library in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she contributed her leadership, dedication, and love of books to the community she served. Her career also included work with Virgin Island resorts, where she brought her talents and professionalism to a different setting, demonstrating her adaptability and broad range of interests.
Nancy was a world traveler in the truest sense. She embraced the opportunity to see new places, meet new people, and experience life beyond familiar borders. Among the experiences she treasured most was teaching English as a second language to children in Prague, Czech Republic. This work reflected her generous spirit and her belief in the value of education as a bridge between people and communities.

She is survived by her special friends Linda and Bill Hatcher and Renee and Dale Yancy.
A Graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Russ Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
