Paul Howe, a cherished member of the Paducah community and a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on December 14, 1947, in Paducah, Paul's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his family, his career, and his passions.
After a fulfilling career in law enforcement, Paul retired from the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, where he served with honor and distinction as a Police Officer. His commitment to public service continued as he joined the State Highway Department, where he worked until his second retirement. Paul's work ethic and integrity left a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Paul's interests were as varied as they were engaging. He was an avid collector of tools, a hobby that reflected his love for craftsmanship and his hands-on approach to life. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for riding 4-wheelers, shooting guns, and exploring the backroads of Kentucky on his motorcycle or in the truck with his dogs. Hunting and fishing were not just pastimes for Paul; they were activities that allowed him to connect with nature and pass on his knowledge to the next generation. Above all, Paul's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving father who took immense pride in his children's accomplishments and was always there to offer his support and wisdom. As a Pappaw, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Paul's presence was a source of strength and comfort to his family and friends. His laughter, stories, and the lessons he imparted will continue to resonate with all who knew him.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Angela Thomas of Paducah, and Stephanie Heilig (Jason) of Paducah; four grandchildren, Alli Heilig, Ian Heilig, Ricky Garnett and Knox Heilig.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 plus years, Nancy R. Howe; his parents, Charles Howe, Sr. and Ruth Robey Howe; one brother, Charles “Buddy” Howe.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jim Greenwell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
