Philip Steel Chase, known as Phil to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, in his hometown of Paducah, Kentucky. He was born on December 7, 1949.
Phil was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and a veteran of the United States Army Reserves, where he rose to the rank of Major. He was a business owner for many years in Paducah. He enjoyed golf and woodworking. Phil had the luxury of a life well lived.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Chase Witty, and husband, Arra Witty, and grandchildren Henry and Chase Witty, all of Louisville, Kentucky. Also, his former wife, Rebecca Long Chase. His brother Stan Chase, wife Anne, niece Carrie Burchet, nephew John Chase, and great niece and nephew Steel and Donovan. His former wife, Michele Wells Chase, her children Benjamin (Melissa) of Sumter, SC, and Joshua (Carrie) of West Frankfort, IL, Sarah McMurtry (Joshua)Yancey of Paducah, and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elizabeth Chase, and his parents, Ralph Sherman Chase and Velma Steele Chase.
Memorial visitation will be held on March 28, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah at 120 Memorial Drive, Paducah, KY 42001.
